Coramba Day - Devils in Victoria?

November 30th marks Coramba Day when in 1934 an almighty storm sank the Steamship Coramba off the coast of Victoria.

Coramba Day was less than two years before the thylacine's extinction - "the big storm that ... flooded out Healesville Sanctuary" (thanks to Mike for the anniversary reminder)...

Although Dr Stephen Sleightholme has already clarified that Debbie Hynes' theory on how thylacines may have been released on the mainland cannot really be true, her ideas may still hold merit for explaining how Tasmanian devils may have come to live in Victoria in recent times.

Read the original article - and bear in mind that we're now thinking about Devils escaping the Healesville Sancturay during the floods of Coramba Day; not thylacines.
