Delta smelt shuts down California water supplies
While everyone agrees the Delta Smelt is endangered, some think that shutting down irrigation pumps - at the expense of soaring water prices, threatened farming crops and general discontent - is going a bit far.
Especially, if you consider that a new introduced species has been invading the Delta smelt's habitat (on average) once every 24 weeks since 1970 and countless businesses are dumping toxic waste into the water.
